Product Description
Each output is transmitted over two Cat5e/Cat6 cables (either shielded/STP or unshielded/UTP) to a receiver unit (not included), which decodes the signal back into HDMI® for direct connection to a television. The splitter also includes an infrared (IR) repeater, which allows you to control the source device from any remote location.
The splitter supports full 1080p High Speed video and provides full 3D compatibility. It also support high definition 5.1 audio (Dolby TrueHD™ and DTS-HD Master Audio™) and Deep Color 36-bit video, although with 36-bit color it is recommended to limit the video resolution to 720p. A DIP switch on the back of the unit allows you to control the EDID settings, which controls the display type seen by the source device. This allows you to either force a particular display characteristic (such as 1080p with 5.1 audio) or choose a setting that is compatible with all connected displays.
The front panel contains a power switch, power LED indicator, and LEDs for each output to indicate when a valid HDMI® connection is established. A pair of mounting ears allow the unit to be fixed into place and soft rubber feet help protect the finish of any surface upon which it is placed. The back panel contains a single, gold-plated HDMI® input jack, four pairs of Cat5e/6 output jacks, a 3.5mm jack for the IR transmitter, a power-input jack for the external 5V DC power supply, and a 3-pin DIP switch for controlling the EDID signal.
This device requires the use of a Cat5e/Cat6 STP/UTP receiver for each display. Please use this HDMI® Extender Receiver or HDMI Cat5e/Cat6 STP/UTP Receiver Dongle for this purpose.
Note: Even though this unit works with Cat5e UTP cable, it is suggested to use Cat6 and/or STP cable for best results, especially when extending to longer distances.
