This particular cable is the best approach to connect DVI devices to HDMI equipment and the other way around without having interference on the integrity of the digital signal. The most frequent utilisation for this cable is to connect a pc to a HD TV to keep the quality of HD video. HDMI to DVI cables provide the same quality flawless screen resolutions as regular HDMI to HDMI cables.
Apart from plugging in your PC to your HDTV, you can also hook up HDMI source devices such as an Xbox 360 or a Ps3 to a DVI supported computer monitor or display which has a DVI-D port.
